The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of assigned areas of the campus, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, and hallways, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Empty and replace trash and recycling bins, and maintain a clean and organized storage area.
- Operate various cleaning equipment and machinery, including vacuums, mops, and cleaning solutions.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of facilities for events, meetings, and classes, ensuring all areas are clean and ready for use.
- Lock and unlock buildings, and secure facilities when not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows.
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and other related activities to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in janitorial services or a related field preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment and supplies, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with faculty, staff, and students in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
The Custodian will work primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor duties, and will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
