Job Overview

The Cybersecurity Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the Enterprise Cybersecurity Operations Support Team, which is dedicated to safeguarding the information and assets within the organization’s IT infrastructure. Given the sensitive nature of the information resources, effective information security services are essential to protect these critical assets. The ideal candidate will possess experience in managing systems in alignment with regulatory standards such as FISMA/NIST. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of systems and data, as well as the implementation and enforcement of security policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network and associated systems for security incidents, assess current threats, and provide recommendations for remediation and reporting to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Utilize DOD/DAU tools to continuously evaluate the security posture of the network and all connected systems, as well as assess new systems and modifications for potential vulnerabilities prior to deployment.
  • Support and manage cybersecurity tools that facilitate the delivery of security services, including security filtering, network monitoring, host-based monitoring, event logging and correlation, and scanning tools.
  • Engage in Cybersecurity Vulnerability Management (IAVM) and DISA VDP Reviews.
  • Conduct cyber threat intelligence analysis, develop correlation techniques, and participate in incident response efforts, reporting and tracking findings and resolutions, including trends and mitigation actions.
  • Assess, plan, and implement measures to enhance cybersecurity architecture, tool configurations, and detection signatures to protect against breaches and attacks on computer networks and systems.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • DoD 8570 Compliant for IAT Level II or above: Must possess certifications such as CASP+ CE, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, CCSP, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CND, CySA+, GCED, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP.
  • DoD 8570 Compliant for CSSP Analyst: Must obtain certifications such as CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CEH, CFR, Cloud+, CySA+, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, PenTest+, or SCYBER within six months of starting.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, Zero Trust, defense-in-depth, and essential security elements.
  • Familiarity with Anti-Virus, HIPS/HBSS, IDS/IPS, Full Packet Capture, Network Forensics, and the ability to produce complex technical reports on analytic findings.
  • Knowledge of malware analysis concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience with Cloud/Azure environments.

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
