Exceptional Opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Acute Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Medicine

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Physician Assistant or Acute Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the ICU department at Health Alliance Hudson Valley, part of the WMCHealth Network.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and be committed to providing exceptional care to our patients. Candidates must be licensed in New York State as a Physician Assistant or Acute Nurse Practitioner, and possess specialized training and certification in critical care medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing detailed and accurate history and physical examinations of patients.
  • Ordering appropriate diagnostic tests based on patients' history, examination, signs, and symptoms.
  • Recognizing abnormalities in test results (lab, radiology, EKG) and taking appropriate treatment actions, consulting with physicians when necessary.
  • Providing appropriate patient instructions and counseling.
  • Initiating and facilitating referral or transfer of patients to other medical facilities for further medical care, under the consultation of physicians.
  • Ensuring proper documentation in the medical record, including history, physical examination, diagnosis, treatment records, condition on discharge, patient instructions, and follow-up.
  • Managing medical, surgical, and trauma issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Acting rapidly and effectively in emergency situations, managing both patients and other employees.
  • Performing phlebotomies and IV access as needed.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in intubation techniques.
  • Participating in the Quality Improvement program as requested by the Medical Director.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with current licensure in the State of New York.
  • For Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care Certification required
  • Two (2) years minimum in Critical Care
  • BLS, ACLS and ATLS
  • PALS preferred
