Position Overview
The HVAC Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the operation, upkeep, and repair of the university's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment, working under general guidance. This is a full-time role that includes eligibility for benefits and may involve additional hours as needed. Standard working hours are typically Monday to Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Department Overview
The Facilities Services department is committed to delivering essential maintenance support to uphold the academic and research objectives of the university. With a dedicated team of approximately 250 personnel, Facilities Services manages maintenance for an extensive area encompassing eight million square feet of buildings and 280 acres of land.
Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge: The ideal candidate should possess comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical apparatus, and energy management protocols. An understanding of safety standards and regulations is vital.
Skills: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the installation, operation, and repair of HVAC systems, as well as the ability to interpret blueprints, estimate costs, and provide guidance to junior staff.
Experience: A minimum of two years of journey-level experience or equivalent formal education in mechanical technology is required.
Licenses and Certifications
A valid California Driver's License is mandatory.
Essential Qualifications
- Capability to respond effectively to emergency situations and prioritize safety
- Expertise in the installation and repair of HVAC systems
- Competence in blueprint interpretation and cost estimation
Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary for this position is competitive, with a range of $6,459 to $8,339 per month, commensurate with education and experience. The university provides a comprehensive benefits package to its employees.
