Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral associate or research associate to join our team in the Department of Physics at Virginia Tech. The successful candidate will have a strong background in string theory and a history of peer-reviewed publications.

Responsibilities:

* Conduct research in string theory, including string compactifications, sigma models, F-theory, effective theories, and string geometry and phenomenology
* Collaborate with faculty and other researchers on research projects
* Develop and maintain a strong research program

Requirements:

* A strong background in string theory with a history of peer-reviewed publications
* A master's degree in a relevant field and prior research experience for the research associate position
* A doctorate degree in a relevant field for the postdoctoral associate position
* PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

* Programming experience
* Ability to work under limited supervision
* Experience mentoring junior researchers
