Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to support our team in Richland, NE. As an SLPA, you will work closely with Speech-Language Pathologists to provide speech and language therapy services to students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Therapy Support: Assist Speech-Language Pathologists in implementing therapy plans and interventions for students with speech and language disorders.
  • Assessment Assistance: Help administer assessments and evaluations to determine students' communication needs under the guidance of the supervising SLP.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, therapy activities, and any relevant observations.
  • Classroom Support: Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to support students in integrating therapy goals into their classroom activities and daily routines.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between the SLP, students, teachers, and parents, communicating effectively regarding students' progress, goals, and needs.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities and training sessions to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
  • Student Advocacy: Advocate for students' communication needs and work to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, Communication Sciences, or a related field. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Certification: Current certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in Nebraska. (If certification is pending, state any requirements for obtaining it.)
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred. Experience supporting students with speech and language disorders is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to follow therapy plans and instructions, and proficiency in maintaining organized records.
