Job Summary:

We are seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to administer anesthesia under the supervision of the Attending Anesthesiologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering local, inhalation, intravenous, and other anesthetics prescribed during surgery, deliveries, or other medical procedures. The CRNA will also be responsible for institutes resuscitative procedures throughout the hospital, including the recovery room, and be available at all times while on duty.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs complete pre-anesthetic assessment, including significant laboratory data, important aspects of patient history and physical, and awareness of and fully comprehends history, physical, and laboratory data.
  • Establishes good rapport with patients, anticipates needs and possible problems, and takes initiative and functions independently.
  • Reviews ID upon receiving patient, name, and DOB, and respects patients' rights.
  • Prepares for case management, assembles all essential equipment in an orderly manner, and has equipment ready and in working condition to safely administer anesthesia.
  • Develops a plan of care in a systematic manner based on assessment, interpretation, and anticipated procedure, recognizes patient difficulties, and communicates information clearly and logically with the Attending.
  • Manages anesthesia, including airway management, exhibits safe and comfortable technical ability, recognizes problems, and takes appropriate corrective action, including seeking consultation.
  • Provides post-anesthetic management, verifies with the PACU RN the patient's first and last name on the ID bracelet, maintains patient airway, shows attentiveness to physiological needs, provides full report to recovery person, completes all records, evaluates and resolves patient pain status, and takes care of equipment.
Requirements:
  • CRNA-Certified RN Anesthetist license should be obtained within a year of hire.
  • Masters Degree - CRNA program.
  • Current NYS RN License, CRNA Certification, ACLS, PALS certification, and NYS Infection Control Certificate.
