Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and create costumes for OSF's live or digital productions by:
a. Collaborating with various team members including Lead Drapers and Craft/Dyers.
b. Focusing on garment construction or craft/dye fabrication to produce and modify costumes, accessories, and props.
c. Developing prototypes and samples as needed.
d. Preparing fabrics and garments as directed.
2. Construct multi-disciplinary elements such as prop-costumes and lighting-costumes.
3. Uphold the mission and values of OSF by:
a. Promoting inclusive practices and fostering a sense of belonging.
b. Ensuring a safe and respectful working environment.
c. Addressing micro-aggressions and promoting respectful interactions.
4. Follow the OSF Company Handbook, safety protocols, and departmental guidelines.
5. Maintain and organize costume shop spaces, ensuring cleanliness and order.
6. Assist in the cleaning of garments and accessories as necessary.
7. Help restock costumes and accessories post-events.
8. Attend all relevant meetings and safety training sessions.
Additional Responsibilities:
9. Support Costume Rentals and repairs as needed.
10. Cut fabrics and materials as instructed.
11. Assist Lead Drapers and Craft/Dyers as required.
12. Monitor and replenish inventory of shop supplies.
13. Facilitate the transport of supplies as needed.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by costume department management.
Supervision:
Reports to the Costume Director and other designated managers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in costume construction.
Skills: Ability to follow instructions, read patterns, and communicate effectively. Proficient in various fabrics and sewing techniques. Knowledge of safety standards in production environments.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, climb stairs, and remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Preferred: Familiarity with global garment and costume history.
Compensation: Hourly rate of $26.75 USD.
