Dental Assistant Position

Matrix Providers is seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will perform assisting in one or more phases of complex/difficult restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic, or periodontal treatment. You will receive and schedule patients for treatment, obtain and record medical history, and chart examination and treatment information. You will also sterilize instruments, prepare surgical trays, and maintain dental equipment. Additionally, you will assist the dentist at chairside, perform intra-oral procedures, and take preliminary impressions for study models. You will also instruct patients in proper dental techniques and care of appliances.
Responsibilities:
Perform assisting in one or more phases of complex/difficult restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic, or periodontal treatment.
Receive and schedule patients for treatment.
Obtain and record the related medical history of the patient.
Chart examination and treatment information.
Sterilize instruments, materials, and equipment; prepare surgical trays.
Maintain dental equipment in a clean and operative condition.
Assist dentist at chairside.
Perform intra-oral procedures as directed by the dentist.
Take preliminary impressions for study models, remove sutures and place, and remove rubber dams, period-packs, matrix bands, and wedges.
Relay the dentist's instructions to the patient for post-treatment care.
Instruct patient in proper dental techniques, care of appliances, and causes of dental decay.
Operate dental X-ray equipment to take intra and extra-oral radiographs.
Maintain, cleans, and performs minor repairs on X-ray equipment and materials.
Pours and trims models from impressions and constructs custom impression trays.
Maintains a variety of recurring reports related to dental activities.
Requirements:
Certificate or Associate Degree as a dental assistant/technician from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA) and 12 months of experience within the preceding 36 months.
Certification from a military dental technician or dental assistant school and 12 months of experience within the preceding 36 months.
Certification from a Red Cross Dental Assistant course and 12 months of experience within the preceding 36 months.
Membership in good standing with the American Association of Dental Assistants with required continuing education and 12 months of experience within the preceding 36 months.
Graduation from a state-accredited program for dental assistants or dental technology within the preceding 12 months.
1 full year within the last 3 years working full-time as a Dental Assistant within a private practice clinic or military clinic setting.
