Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at the City of East Orange. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional public health nursing duties in East Orange and contracting towns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct home visits, clinic visits, and school visits to educate the public on preventive health measures and respond to health questions.
  • Evaluate health needs and environmental hazards in homes and assist families with referrals to agencies and physicians as needed.
  • Measure patients' vital signs and growth process, and implement actions to curtail the spread of communicable diseases.
  • Develop and implement plans of care for clients, and assess client healthcare needs and referral as necessary.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • One (1) year of experience in public health nursing.
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing or Public Health.
  • A current and valid registration as a Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey and a valid New Jersey state Driver's License.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, side effects, and possible complications.
  • Knowledge of adult and children immunizations.
  • Knowledge of computer and medical information technology.
