The Clinical Communication Specialist provides patient care assessment and treatment. Responsible for mentoring students and other Rehab Services personnel as assigned. Collaborates with other healthcare team members and physicians in a multi-disciplinary fashion to deliver the highest quality of care. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Facilitates the provision of excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Patients and Families:
- Provide patient assessment, care, and information.
- Address concerns and complaints.
- Project a positive image of the department and hospital.
Physicians and Other Healthcare Team Members:
- Promote coordination of care.
- Address concerns and complaints.
Community and Business:
- Provide education.
- Promote department and hospital.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited School of Speech Language Pathology.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- None.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist temporary or permanent license in Speech Language Pathology.
- Clinical Fellowship Year or Certification of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Analytical abilities to delegate personnel, problem solve with positive solutions.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills required to facilitate interactions with stated customers and staff members.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, temperature changes, and occasional noxious odors.
- Stressful work periods occasionally encountered.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for most of the day, lifting/assisting patients with transfers, bed mobility, and ambulation as well as their exercise programs.
