Job Summary

The Security Officer II, Gate/Night Watch provides critical security services to Wake Forest University, ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff. This role conducts regular patrols, monitors campus areas, and responds to incidents, all while maintaining a strong rapport with the university community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough security checks of university buildings and grounds, identifying potential security risks and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Monitor campus areas, including parking lots and residence halls, to prevent unauthorized access and ensure a safe environment.
  • Respond to incidents, including reports of suspicious activity, theft, or vandalism, and work closely with university police to resolve issues.
  • Build strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff, providing a sense of security and well-being on campus.
  • Complete accurate and detailed reports, using two-way radios to communicate with the University Police Communications Center.
  • Assist in crowd control during special events, ensuring the safety of all attendees.
  • Report suspicious activity or individuals to the University Police Department.
  • Provide information and directions to students, faculty, and staff as needed.
Requirements
  • High school graduate with two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid NC driver's license and good driving record; must be insurable.
  • Strong knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to write detailed and accurate reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer for report writing and timekeeping.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and make logical decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Security experience, particularly in a campus environment, is preferred.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to changing situations and priorities. The Security Officer II, Gate/Night Watch must be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and concisely, and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.

The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
