About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Central Registry Field Representative to join our team at Health Research, Inc. This is a grant-funded position that requires strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and maintain cancer data from reporting facilities and help interpret information from various reports and spreadsheets.
  • Work with assigned groups of facilities or physicians to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Responsible for gathering and maintaining complete and accurate cancer data in a timely fashion, which is essential to fulfilling the New York State Cancer Registry's mandate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of relevant allied health experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field and Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)/Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and three years of relevant allied health experience; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience and CTR/ODS certification; OR four years of relevant allied health experience and a CTR/ODS certification.
  • Related field is defined as biology, health education, clinical laboratory science, health information technology/management, histotechnology, nursing, physician's assistant, public health.
  • Relevant experience includes medical/disease abstraction or coding, data analysis of health information, quality assurance of health information, healthcare or public health administration, public health education, professional patient care (e.g., nursing), allied health professional.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a state/central tumor registry, hospital tumor registry, other hospital setting, or medical office.
  • Experience using Excel or Access.
  • Knowledge of the cancer disease process, medical terminology, medical and community and health care delivery system.
  • Experience providing professional-level training, especially in the area of health.
  • Experience with quality assurance, including auditing a hospital registry for completeness and accuracy.
Conditions of Employment
  • Grant funded position.
  • Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
