Job Summary:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our fast-paced neuro specialty inpatient unit at University Hospital in Madison, WI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient-centered care to a variety of medical and surgical neuro patients, including those with multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, trauma, or ortho patients with multiple injuries/diagnosis or spinal fractures requiring orthotics.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of stroke professionals, including nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, coordinated care, Advanced Practice Providers, and medical teams to provide high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Participate in the care of patients with epilepsy, including those with complex seizure disorders, and provide education to patients and families on seizure management and prevention.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans, taking into account the unique needs and goals of each patient.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless transitions of care and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Minimum six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and relevant certification.
