Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Mukilteo School District. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will conduct evaluations to determine eligibility of students for speech and language services and provide those services to eligible students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language impaired students.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students and to meet individual student needs.
  • Develop therapy schedules and provide Speech Language Pathology (SLP) services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through age 21 in accordance with their IEP.
  • Evaluate, implement and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students including devices for deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals.
  • Recognize individual student learning and cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement/success.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement and meeting special education laws and policies.
  • Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.
  • Engage in continuing education studies which insures professional growth.
  • Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by state and federal regulations and district policy.
  • Direct the work of assigned classified staff and SLPA.
  • Fulfill legal responsibilities, implement and comply with federal and state laws, district policies and other guiding principles, and State Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Perform other duties of similar scope and function.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
Requirements
  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate as a School Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Applicants with a master's degree in speech language pathology, audiology or communication disorders are encouraged to apply. We will assist selected candidates with obtaining an Educational Staff Associate certificate.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds is preferred.
