Yale-New Haven Health is seeking a highly skilled MICU Night Intensivist to join our team. As a key member of our Hospitalist Service, you will provide comprehensive care to Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) patients in collaboration with internal medicine house staff, ICU-based hospitalists, and the director and operations manager of the Hospitalist Service and the director of the MICU.
Responsibilities:- Supervise internal medicine and emergency medicine house staff, as well as critical care fellows and ICU-based hospitalists and APPs who work overnight in the MICU.
- Assist in the care of patients as necessary.
- Be available to all nighttime providers for assistance in assessing patients, developing plans of care, and performing invasive procedures.
- Evaluate and treat new admissions, perform triage, and manage incoming and outgoing MICU flow, and assist with 'cross coverage' of patients.
- Assist with cardiac arrests (as part of a team) within and outside of the MICU and assist the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT).
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) activity annually that meets all medical staff reappointment criteria and improves quality of care provided by the service.
- Board certification or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
- Completion of a Critical Care Medicine or Pulmonary Critical Care fellowship program.
- Attending medical staff privileges at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
- Valid Connecticut medical license, CT Controlled Substance Registration, and Federal DEA Certificate.
- BLS/ACLS certification.
Fourteen, twelve-hour shifts per month. Reports at 7PM and works until 7AM the next day.
