Mechanic - Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II

Job Summary
This position with the NC Department of Transportation offers a competitive salary and many career development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled small engine, automotive, and/or heavy equipment repair
- Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose a diverse number of mechanical systems
- Conduct parts/systems failure analysis and calibration, adjustment, and operation of engine analyzers
Requirements
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment
- Experience in performing preventive maintenance on a minimum of one of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment
- Experience in diagnostics of basic electrical systems and proper repair of wiring
- Experience in basic hydraulic system repairs including component replacement and hoses
Additional Information
The selected candidate must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date.
The successful applicant will be required to furnish their own tools upon date of hire.
