Para Educator

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Para Educator - Severe Level I to join our team. As a Para Educator, you will provide essential support to students with severe autism, helping them to reach their full potential and thrive in the classroom.

The Para Educator - Severe Level I will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Assisting students with daily living skills, such as grooming and toileting
• Providing emotional support and behavioral interventions
• Assisting with academic tasks, such as homework and testing
• Participating in Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings and developing IEP goals
• Monitoring student behavior and providing feedback to teachers

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC)
• A high school diploma or equivalent and passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment (prior to March 1, 2007) or the GACE Parapro Assessment
• Experience working with students with autism or other special needs
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
