Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will also lead and develop Team Members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Store Layout and Merchandising: Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product merchandising to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Sales and Labor Targets: Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, ensuring the team is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Assist the Team Leader in analyzing sales reports and labor data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to drive business results.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain advanced product knowledge, staying up-to-date on new products and promotions to provide excellent customer service.
  • Vendor Relationships: Maintain good vendor relationships, develop new vendor relations, and ensure all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing.
  • Team Development: Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues, and function as a point person and departmental person in charge in their absence.
  • Retail Execution: Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution, ensuring a positive customer experience and driving business results.
  • Team Morale: Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, and responding promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Team Member Development: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
Requirements
  • Experience: 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
  • Skills: High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy. Growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership. Desire to coach and mentor others for growth. Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills. Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner. Product knowledge. Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures. Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory. Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling. Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals. Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Ability to work in wet and dry conditions. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery. May require use of ladders.
