We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in building seamless AI experiences that are deeply integrated and context-aware.

Key Responsibilities
  • AI Experience Development: Design and develop real-time, integrated, and context-aware AI experiences that improve search quality and knowledge discovery.
  • Collaboration and Feature Development: Work closely with engineers and designers to define, design, and ship new features that enhance our core Chat, Search, and real-time recommendation systems.
  • Backend Services and APIs: Develop and implement backend services and APIs that support our AI experiences.
  • Complex Problem-Solving: Tackle challenging backend problems, including cross-device syncing, rich text editing, and asynchronous data processing pipelines.
  • Search and Discovery: Be responsible for the information retrieval systems that power our core systems.
  • Experimentation and Integration: Experiment with and integrate state-of-the-art techniques in LLM-augmented indexing and retrieval.
  • Result Quality Management: Establish and oversee methods for monitoring and managing result quality over time.
  • Dynamic Browse Experiences: Invent new strategies for supporting dynamic browse experiences, enabling users to more easily discover knowledge.
Requirements
  • Backend Expertise: Identify as a strong backend generalist with prior experience in complex engineering environments.
  • Adaptability: Be open-minded to using state-of-the-art tools and technologies.
  • Expertise: Expertise in Elasticsearch or machine learning is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Systems Thinking: Be well-versed in systems thinking and have a strong understanding of how different components interact.
  • Collaboration: Enjoy working collaboratively and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independence: Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
