WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? The selected candidate will collaborate with Project Engineers on initiatives spanning both private and public sectors. This role offers the chance to significantly impact our clients by supporting their missions and business objectives. You will have the opportunity to devise solutions utilizing advanced technology and existing infrastructure while adhering to clients' financial constraints to ensure they can deliver essential services to their communities.
WHO WILL YOU BE WORKING WITH? As an Assistant Project Engineer, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration across various teams and specialties, allowing for interaction with colleagues from The Wooten Company in both North and South Carolina. This position presents a valuable opportunity for professional growth and to contribute to the expanding influence of TWC in the North Carolina region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct research, data compilation, and analysis
- Understand water and wastewater treatment processes
- Assist in pump selection and pump station design
- Engage in hydrology studies
- Support permitting and code research
- Utilize AutoCAD / Civil 3D software
- Participate in fieldwork, including review meetings and site inspections
- Interact daily with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies
- B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- EI Certification with a goal of obtaining a Professional Engineer license
- 0-3 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations is advantageous
- Proficient in AutoCAD / Civil 3D
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Possess a growth mindset, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude
This position is partially sedentary, requiring some bending or standing as necessary. It includes occasional fieldwork, which may involve moderate physical exertion. Candidates must have sufficient hand-eye coordination and dexterity for tasks such as drafting and data entry. The role may also require lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds and navigating rugged terrain.

This position operates in a professional office setting and may involve exposure to adverse weather conditions during fieldwork. Candidates may encounter various environmental factors, including noise, dust, and potential hazards.
