About the Role

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Mid-Level Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing HVAC systems for a variety of projects, including military base facilities, aircraft hangars, commercial buildings, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform building HVAC system design with direction from senior mechanical engineers
  • Conduct HVAC load calculations, energy models, and life cycle cost analyses in conformance with applicable codes and energy efficiency standards
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and external team members, including vendors, clients, and contractors
  • Prepare construction documents, including drafting utilizing Revit
  • Perform construction assistance, including responding to contractor RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and construction site visits
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in HVAC systems design
  • Product knowledge of overall building HVAC systems and ability to size and select and layout HVAC components, including fans, chillers, ductwork systems, cooling towers, air handlers, boilers, pumps, and controls
  • Hold a Professional Engineering License or desire to obtain one in the future
  • Proficiency utilizing Trane Trace for cooling and heating load calculations, as well as experience with other platforms such as Carrier HAP, EnergyPlus, or EQuest
  • Revit / BIM experience is a must
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • A valid driver's license, and ability to travel to clients offices and project sites if required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with design of plumbing systems and energy efficiency
  • General exposure to construction cost estimation and management
