Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Firearms Instructor to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. As a Lead Firearms Instructor, you will be responsible for conducting firearms training and overseeing the course of fire at the gun-range. You will ensure the safety of all personnel on the range and secure Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information (SPII) during and after requalification sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct all classroom instruction and deliver the approved TSA training and safety brief
  • Ensure a minimum number of SFIs are present to maintain an instructor/student ratio of 1:6 for each training session
  • Maintain positive control of the training environment from the moment students arrive at the venue to the moment they depart
  • Verify weapons and credentials of each FFDO before training commences by visual inspection
  • Ensure proper scoring of targets, completion of applicable administrative forms, and collection of training data
  • Sign and certify qualification scores for all FFDOs attempting to qualify
Requirements
  • Current or former federal law enforcement agent, officer, or civilian employee having completed a recognized federal firearm instructor training program deemed acceptable by the TSA/FAMS
  • 5 years of firearms training experience
  • Associates Degree or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience
