Powell Industries is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing custom engineered solutions using non-standard applications of Powell standard products to safely and economically meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom engineered solutions using non-standard applications of Powell standard products
  • Develop standard products with reference to customer specifications to design Powell standard products
  • Design Power Control Rooms using Electrical Standards
  • Order materials
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to review and approve completed tasks
Requirements:
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related area
  • Minimum 0-3 years of experience in an Engineering role
  • Ability to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision
  • Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel
  • Ability to order material electronically
  • Advanced drafting/CAD skills, AutoCad preferred
  • Proficient with electrical design and circuitry
  • Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and modify drawings
  • Basic understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products
  • Able to design one product in the most economical way while achieving quality
Work Environment:

The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. Additionally, there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
