POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly of water source heat pumps utilizing various tools, including power tools, hand tools, and automated machinery. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Production Supervisor or Team Leader.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Utilizes hand tools (electrical, pneumatic, manual, or other) to install fasteners, terminals, or other small components during the assembly process.
  • Interprets parts specifications from manufacturing decoder documentation corresponding to each unit.
  • Constructs units according to specifications by installing the correct components as outlined in work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Lifts and positions components and sub-assemblies for effective assembly.
  • Operates bridge cranes and/or jib cranes to lift and position materials for assembly.
  • Ensures the quality of parts and materials delivered to the assembly line.
  • Employs brazing equipment and supplies to join copper components for product assembly.
  • Reviews drawings, bills of material, work instructions, decoder information, and other product documentation to ensure assembly tasks are completed as specified.
  • Performs assembly tasks in a timely manner to meet production TAKT times while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn multiple processes within the assigned work group as per the defined plan.
  • Communicates regularly with team members and others in a clear and respectful manner regarding daily operations and process enhancements.
  • Moves to and works at different assembly lines or workstations as needed.
  • Promotes quality by demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness while monitoring work processes.
  • Exhibits reliable attendance consistent with established schedules and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates hand dexterity and visual acuity to assemble small components effectively.
  • Reports any non-conforming components or products to the Supervisor without delay.
  • Visually inspects work station carts, equipment, and devices for defects or failures, notifying the Team Lead or Supervisor for necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensures that the quality of components and materials used in the workstation meets defined quality standards.
  • Informs the assembly Team Lead or Supervisor when components need to be restocked in the area.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area consistently.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or actions, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Adheres to safety guidelines and policies to ensure safe working practices at all times.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; or 6 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of assembly experience is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Certificates & Licenses: N/A
  • Other Requirements: Must be able to read and communicate in English. Knowledge of operational excellence principles, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S is preferred.
