Job Summary
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, coordinating, and controlling all aspects of the operating functions, processes, and staff of the facility while demonstrating a primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily operation of the facility, ensuring smooth functioning and optimal performance.
  • Serving as a liaison between partners, anesthesia groups, and departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Reporting pertinent activities concerning the facility to the executive team and partnership at regular intervals.
  • Appointing a person responsible for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Planning for services provided by the facility and the operation of the facility, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Overall management of the Partnership as outlined in applicable rules and guidelines.
Business Operations
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to internal controls, maintaining a high level of integrity and accountability.
  • Develop, monitor, and control staffing needs, operations budget, and capital budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Develop, monitor, and control purchasing plans to stay within proposed budgets and maintain compliance with group purchasing initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Negotiate and control external contracts, such as those with physicians, ancillary services, plant maintenance, and purchasing agreements, optimizing value and minimizing risk.
  • Establish pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate departmental policy and procedure manuals for use by staff, promoting consistency and best practices.
  • Closely monitor variations in financial performance to avoid cash flow problems, ensuring stability and sustainability.
Personnel Administration
  • Hold monthly staff meetings outlining goals and priorities of the facility, fostering engagement and motivation.
  • Manage exempt and non-exempt employees in accordance with facility policies, utilizing sound principles of practice and fairness.
  • Review employee performance as evaluated by respective managers, ensuring timely and thorough evaluations.
  • Review and approve disciplinary actions and/or discharges, maintaining a fair and transparent process.
  • Evaluate management performance and other staff as designated, identifying areas for growth and improvement.
  • Approve additions or deletions of positions, as well as approve applicants for new or vacant positions, aligning with organizational needs.
  • Implement a program of job-based orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation for all employees, ensuring competence and confidence.
  • Manage employee files and records, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
  • Provide educational opportunities for professional staff development, promoting continuous learning and improvement.
Clinical Services
  • Ensure surgical programs and clinical services comply with regulatory body and accrediting body standards, maintaining the highest level of quality and safety.
  • Work in conjunction with the Medical Director and Medical Executive Committee to evaluate and develop existing and new surgical services, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Manage clinical departments of nursing, central supply, housekeeping, and supervise contracted services of laboratory, pharmaceuticals, laundry, and biomedical engineering, ensuring seamless integration and coordination.
  • Monitor adequate function of surgical equipment and patient care equipment through contracted services and follow-up on repairs, maintaining optimal performance and reliability.
  • Identify and develop new services defined as appropriate for ambulatory surgery centers, expanding offerings and improving patient experience.
  • Foster positive public relations, marketing, and planning, promoting the organization's reputation and brand.
Quality Improvement
  • Develop, evaluate, and promote implementation of a continuous quality improvement program, driving excellence and innovation.
  • Administer the infection control program and medical staff review of the quality improvement program, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Identify and correct quality care issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Develop statistical indicators to use in evaluating overall operations and quality of care provided, informing data-driven decision making.
  • Serve as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee, contributing expertise and guidance.
Medical Staff Relationships
  • Process credentialing of practitioners of the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director in reviewing and revising Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations, maintaining alignment with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and serve as a liaison in problem areas with the medical staff, promoting positive relationships and effective communication.
  • Develop a system whereby physician needs and patient needs are defined, determining the proper mix of services and efficiencies.
Administrative Representative
  • Attend corporate administrative meetings representing the facility, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the facility, upholding its values and principles.
  • Maintain membership in professional associations relevant to ambulatory surgery facilities and healthcare administration, staying current with industry developments and trends.
  • Stay current in changes in the healthcare environment, such as reimbursement, legislative issues, and business law, acting accordingly in the best interest of the corporation.
Personal Development and Professionalism
  • Identify areas requiring additional reinforcement through education, consultation, or practicum, promoting ongoing learning and growth.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings, ensuring timely and thorough participation.
  • Follow the facility's professional conduct and dress code policy, maintaining a high level of professionalism and respect.
  • Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy, adhering to strict standards of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staff, patients, and employees, fostering positive relationships and interactions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Nursing or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a top administrative or supervisory/management position within an ASC.
  • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and others, promoting effective teamwork and collaboration.
