Security Officer

The Security Officer is a vital member of the CommonSpirit Health team, responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes.
- Maintain and project a high level of professionalism, integrity, and instill confidence through the wear of the uniform and all interactions with team members, visitors, and patients.
- Intervene and control security incidents that may include loud, disorderly, physically aggressive or violent persons visitors and summons police to assist if necessary.
- Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and respond promptly to location(s) where needed; and report un-safe acts or conditions.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, reports HIPPA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conduct initial and follow-up investigations, and write incident reports.
- Six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or three (3) years experience as a security officer.
- Current drivers license issued by the state wherein the position is posted with satisfactory DMV report on file or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire if facility requires the position to operate a motor vehicle.
- Intermediate computer skills, writing ability, ability to work independently and use good judgment to resolve a variety of complex situation resulting in a positive outcome.
- Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally, and in writing; understand and use de-escalation techniques.
