Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors at the New Mexico Veterans' Home. The successful candidate will work under supervision to maintain the facility's cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide housekeeping services, including dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning of walls, mirrors, and windows
  • Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables
  • Disinfect and sanitize surfaces and equipment to control odor and germs
  • Attend training sessions and meetings to stay up-to-date on facility policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Eighth grade education or equivalent
  • Ability to work well with elderly and dementia patients
  • Positive attitude and flexibility with changing work assignments
  • Valid driver's license and Defensive Driving Course Certificate
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English language
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a long-term care facility with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. The successful candidate must be able to function under pressure and stressful situations, and may be required to work on-call, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callback hours.
