We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Texas Children's Hospital. As a Lactation Consultant, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to new mothers and their infants. This position requires a strong background in nursing, with a focus on lactation and perinatal care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, and possess a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruct mothers on all tasks necessary to initiate and maintain lactation during the infant's hospitalization.
  • Communicate with the healthcare team to develop and modify the plan of care.
  • Document observations, assessments, and recommendations in the patient record.
  • Provide expert support to departments and staff on human milk collection, storage, transport, and feeding.
  • Evaluate maternal medication use and its compatibility with breastfeeding or expressed breast milk feeding.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or associate's degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program.
  • 1 year of experience in nursing, with a focus on perinatal care.
  • RN License by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse License Compact.
  • CPR - Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
