Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Court Interpreter to join our team at the Colorado Judicial Branch. As a Court Interpreter, you will play a critical role in ensuring equal access to justice for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and complete interpretation services in all types of hearings where a party to the case has limited English proficiency and requires a Spanish interpreter.
  • Schedule interpreters for languages other than Spanish, including American Sign Language Interpreters and Captions in Real Time providers, for court appearances, competency evaluations, pre-sentence reports, mediations, and court visitations.
  • Authorize invoices for independent contractors.
  • Assist with printing, organizing, and sending the docket to independent contractors.
  • Receive requests to translate documents for specific programs in the district. Send documents to the Translation Department of the Office of Language Access and follow up on delivery dates.
  • Translate short documents such as letters from defendants to the judges, victim's statements, and flyers with information for the district.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
Requirements
  • State or Federal Court Interpreter Certification or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience interpreting in a judicial environment.
Working Conditions

This position requires sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a relatively free work environment. The work location is in an office or similar indoor environment.
