Dietetic Technician

Job Summary

GeorgiaGov is seeking a qualified Dietetic Technician to join our team at Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah. This is a full-time position with state benefits and will work 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist dieticians in serving adults with mental health issues. Key duties include:

• Informing and teaching individuals about their food and medications
• Monitoring the individuals' food tray line
• Conducting food demonstrations to individuals
• Assisting in the provision of nutritional programs
• Planning and producing meals based on guidelines
• Teaching individuals principles of food and nutrition
• Observing individuals' food intake and reporting progress and dietary problems
• Obtaining and evaluating dietary histories of individuals to plan nutritional programs
• Planning menus and diets or guiding individuals and families based upon nutritional needs and established guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to state minimum qualifications, preference will be given to those applicants who possess some or all of the following skills/experience:

• Associate's degree in a dietetic technician, dietetic assistant, or similar program from an accredited college or university
• Experience in conducting training/instruction in food, nutrition, dietetics, or closely related subject matter
• At least one year of experience as a lead worker or assistant supervisor in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food in a food operation
• At least two years' clerical and/or customer service experience
• Experience working with mental health adults
