Job Summary

The Material Handler will be responsible for the setup and operation of mill fixtures on Numerically Controlled Milling Machines. This role requires close collaboration with Machine Operators and Manufacturing support personnel to ensure proper setup and alignment of mill fixtures onto machine tables. The Material Handler will also be responsible for loading material, forgings, and partially machined work pieces onto these mill fixtures in accordance with setup instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare machine tables for the placement of mill fixtures.
  • Prepare mill fixtures for placement onto prepared machine tables.
  • Perform minor maintenance to mill fixtures (apply oil as preservative, repair threads using thread die, stone scarred surfaces, etc.).
  • Operate overhead cranes.
  • Select and use the appropriate slings or other lifting devices (shackles, eye bolts, etc.) for use when applying mill fixtures or parts to machine tables.
  • Operate milling machines when necessary to support setup functions.
  • Select and apply appropriate clamps, bolts, vacuum supplying pumps, etc.
  • Remove and replace parts from mill fixtures.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills and be able to follow instructions accurately.

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The candidate should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
