Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian II to lead the Zoonosis Control Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including supervising staff, planning and directing program activities, and coordinating with local health departments and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement disease control methods and procedures to prevent and control zoonotic diseases.
  • Supervise and train staff on disease surveillance, investigation, and control measures.
  • Collaborate with local health departments, veterinarians, and other stakeholders to develop and implement disease control plans.
  • Conduct field investigations and collect data to inform disease control decisions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure effective disease control and prevention.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Texas veterinary license.
  • Experience in veterinary public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
