The Texas Department of Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian II to lead the Zoonosis Control Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including supervising staff, planning and directing program activities, and coordinating with local health departments and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement disease control methods and procedures to prevent and control zoonotic diseases.
- Supervise and train staff on disease surveillance, investigation, and control measures.
- Collaborate with local health departments, veterinarians, and other stakeholders to develop and implement disease control plans.
- Conduct field investigations and collect data to inform disease control decisions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure effective disease control and prevention.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current Texas veterinary license.
- Experience in veterinary public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
