Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Computed Tomography Technologist to join our team at Good Shepherd Health Care. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography scans and related procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform computed tomography scans and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
  • Provide appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
  • Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepare patients for procedures; provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Select and operate radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
  • Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Determine radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patient and others.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Verify informed consent for, and assist a licensed practitioner with, interventional procedures.
  • Practice aseptic techniques as necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
  • Initiate basic life support action when necessary.
  • Assist licensed practitioner with Fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
  • Computed Tomography specific duties.
  • Operate Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories.
  • Select appropriate program for the desired protocol.
  • Understand methods and is capable of performing venipunctures.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and provide hard copy records assuring proper identification.
  • Maintain archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of and observe Universal precautions.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Assist in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned area and report equipment malfunction.
  • Provide input for equipment purchase and supply decisions.
  • Provide practical instruction for students and/or other health care professionals.
  • Participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan. May be responsible for specific quality control duties in the assigned area.
  • May be responsible for control of inventory and purchase of supplies for the assigned area.
  • Understand and apply patient relations skills.
  • Pursue the appropriate continuing education needed to maintain license or certification.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of formal Radiologic Technology accredited program.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography and CT, or equivalent required by state of Oregon.
  • Licensed in the State of Oregon as Radiologic Technologist/CT Technologist.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population desired.
