**Job Summary**

Alabama Department of Education is seeking a highly qualified Dyslexia Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a vital member of our education system, this role will play a crucial part in providing intensive, diagnostic, and prescriptive reading intervention to students who require additional support.

**About the Role**

We are committed to ensuring that all students, particularly those with dyslexia, receive the best possible education. As a Dyslexia Intervention Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing a dyslexia-specific intervention approved by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) and Alabama's Literacy Task Force (LTF). You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to provide targeted support and ensure a seamless transition for students.

**Key Responsibilities**

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing intensive, diagnostic, and prescriptive reading intervention to students with dyslexia
  • Implementing a dyslexia-specific intervention program approved by IMSLEC and LTF
  • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure a seamless transition for students
  • Participating in Multisensory Language Education (MSLE) training sessions associated with CALT training
  • Administering universal reading screeners to all students and participating on the Problem-Solving Team (PST) for students identified as having a reading deficit
  • Developing Student Reading Improvement Plans (SRIP) and/or Response to Intervention (RtI) plans when appropriate
  • Delivering prescriptive, explicit, systematic, structured, multi-sensory language instruction to students requiring dyslexia-specific intervention

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A master's degree and Mastery Status in LETRS Early Childhood and/or LETRS K-12
  • Minimum three years of successful teaching of reading or content areas and good classroom management
  • Advanced knowledge of and compliance with the Alabama Literacy Act
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to transition with the district, campus, and/or department changes
  • Ability to facilitate schoolwide professional development in the area of dyslexia awareness

**Salary**

The estimated salary for this role is around $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
