As a key member of our Systems Engineering & Integration department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our nuclear reactors.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Operating Strategies: Collaborate with design engineers to develop reactor operating strategies that incorporate sound operational principles.
- Concept of Operations and Operating Procedures: Participate in the development of reactor plant operating strategies, concept of operations, and operating procedures to ensure seamless integration of reactor systems.
- Reactor Simulator Design and Development: Support the design and development of reactor simulators, including interfacing with multiple organizations and contractors, aggregating design data, and developing scenarios for evaluations.
- Control Algorithm Development: Support the development of control algorithms for semi-autonomous and/or manual operations to ensure safe and efficient reactor operation.
- Integrated Plant Response Evaluation: Support the evaluation of integrated plant response to various events, accidents, and malfunctions to ensure safe and reliable reactor operation.
- Plant Control and Monitoring Interfaces: Support the design of plant control and monitoring interfaces, including the Human Machine Interface in the control room and other operator interfaces.
- Operations Training Material Development: Using reactor design materials, develop operations training material for internal and customer use to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
- Design Reviews and Feedback: Participate in design reviews and provide feedback from an operations and maintenance perspective to ensure reactor systems are designed with safety and efficiency in mind.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience in nuclear reactor operations.
- Skills: Demonstrated understanding of the interrelationships and dependencies of reactor systems, encompassing nuclear, mechanical, I&C, and electrical systems.
- License/Certification: Must have a current or prior Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator license or have qualified as EWS/EOOW in the United States Navy.
- Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
- Nuclear Operations Training Experience: Experience in nuclear operations training, including the development and implementation of training programs.
- Nuclear Reactor Simulator Design and Maintenance Experience: Experience in the design and maintenance of nuclear reactor simulators.
- High Temperature Gas Reactor Technologies: Familiarity with high temperature gas reactor technologies.
- Fluid Systems Design Experience: Experience in the design of fluid systems.
- I&C Systems Design Experience: Experience in the design of I&C systems.
- Electrical Systems Design Experience: Experience in the design of electrical systems.
- U.S. Government Customer Experience: Experience working with U.S. Government customers, including the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and NASA.
