The Licensed Practical Nurse Supervisor is a key leadership role within the Arkansas Government Job organization. This position is responsible for overseeing nursing activities in a nursing facility, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise a small to medium-sized nursing staff, including interviewing, recommending for hire, assigning and reviewing work, training employees, scheduling leave time, resolving work problems, and evaluating performance.
- Review nurses' report books for medication changes, physician orders, new patients, patient problems, and general instructions.
- Count controlled drugs to verify the amount of narcotics on hand and review medication cards for changes and dosage amount.
- Administer medications to patients and observe and chart patient behavior, condition, and daily activities.
- Discuss routine activities or personal problems with patients and instruct and assist patients with personal hygiene and feeding.
- Escort patients to dining and recreational areas and appointments, and assist doctors and nursing personnel by taking and recording physician orders, nursing notes, and vital signs.
- Notify next shift of each day's events, including sick patients, behavioral problems, and new orders.
- Inventory and order supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
- Licensure by the Arkansas State Nursing Board as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with ACA.
- Three years of experience providing direct nursing care, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
