We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Public Works Maintenance Technician. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks, operating equipment, and ensuring the upkeep of our city's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city streets, storm water drainage systems, and other public facilities.
    • Operate a variety of equipment, including tractors, riding mowers, and small trucks.
  • Equipment Operation
    • Operate heavy equipment, such as backhoes and excavators, to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
    • Load and unload heavy materials from trucks.
  • Record Keeping and Communication
    • Keep accurate records of work completed and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
    • Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience
    • One year of progressively responsible experience in public works or a related field.
    • Experience operating heavy equipment and performing maintenance tasks preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Knowledge of materials, methods, and practices of public works field operations.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a variety of weather conditions.
Working Conditions
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
  • Regularly work in hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental hazards.
