Role Summary:

Sovah Health - Martinsville is looking for a PRN Respiratory Therapist Tier III to assess patients with respiratory conditions and perform diagnostic evaluations. Collaborate with physicians to create and execute effective treatment plans. Responsibilities include administering physiotherapy and educating patients on medication usage.

  • Assess lung function and analyze blood samples using specialized equipment.
  • Implement and evaluate prescribed therapies, monitoring patient responses.
  • Review and enhance respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes and current best practices.
  • Respond to emergency situations, assessing patient needs and providing necessary interventions.
  • Inform patients and families about respiratory conditions and available community resources.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure proper storage of respiratory supplies and equipment.
  • Perform cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of respiratory equipment.
  • Manage and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gases.
  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with respiratory issues using advanced technology.
  • Administer various respiratory therapies as per physician directives.
  • Conduct electrocardiograph examinations and other complex respiratory procedures.
  • Monitor and adjust mechanical ventilation settings as needed.
  • Participate in emergency response teams for critical care situations.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new staff members.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives within the department.

Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an A.A.S. degree or equivalent.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
  • Physical capability to handle and assist patients as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Virginia.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT).

Experience:

Minimum experience requirements vary by tier level, with specific expectations for hospital-based respiratory therapy experience.
