Job Overview

As a Veterinary Emergency Care Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our team at Bedford Pet Urgent Care. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of essential tasks aimed at ensuring the health and well-being of our patients.


Key Responsibilities:

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Restraint of pets to facilitate examinations and treatments.
  • Triage of incoming patients to prioritize care based on medical needs.
  • Collection and analysis of laboratory samples for diagnostic purposes.
  • Conducting diagnostic imaging to assist in patient evaluation.
  • Providing management and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying levels of stability.
  • Administering medications as prescribed and communicating treatment plans effectively with pet owners.
  • Preparing for and assisting in surgical procedures, along with managing anesthesia.

It is essential to be prepared for the challenges of the role, including exposure to unpleasant odors and sounds, as well as potential risks such as bites, scratches, and animal waste.


Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates who possess:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred.
  • Attributes such as compassion, calmness, teamwork, multitasking ability, and strong communication skills.
  • The capability to properly restrain pets for examinations and treatments.
  • Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests, and monitoring anesthesia is advantageous.
  • A self-motivated attitude with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Additional Information:

Job Type: Part-time

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6 PM to 10 PM

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience and licensure status.
