Job Summary:

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and preparation of assigned equipment, as well as performing administrative tasks associated with equipment maintenance records.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Adhere to and ensure that all safety practices and housekeeping standards are maintained to the highest standard.
  2. Ensure that completed repairs are performed to the highest quality per OEM recommendations.
  3. Perform administrative duties associated with maintaining activity records and logs regarding equipment and repairs.
  4. Ensure routine maintenance and upkeep of equipment and tools.
  5. Input and export accurate data from the CMMS to ensure all work is performed and annotated correctly.
  6. Perform inspections, diagnostics, repair, services, and rebuild of components and assemblies, and determine serviceability of vehicle systems, assemblies, or subassemblies and the need for repair.
  7. Analyze malfunctions by visual and auditory examination or through the use of test diagnostic equipment.
  8. Repair, adjust, and overhaul/replace major assemblies or subassemblies such as engine mechanical, electrical, air-conditioning, fuel, emission, power train, brake, steering, and suspension systems.
  9. Reassemble, adjust, and test repaired units for proper operations.
  10. Perform preventive and special maintenance.
  11. Use technical publications to maintain vehicles to prescribed manufacturers' maintenance schedules.
  12. Adhere to all established safety policies and standards, including identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
  13. Read and follow current policies and procedures as outlined in all SOPs applicable to assigned work location.
  14. Emphasize a sense of urgency with shop mechanics to reduce equipment downtime.
Requirements:
  1. Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety precautions involved in maintaining motorized equipment.
  2. Considerable and specialized knowledge and skills in diesel troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
  3. Skilled in diagnoses and repairing parts of the principles and practices of organization, administration, and supervision.
  4. Ability to provide guidance and direction in the safe repair of equipment.
  5. Skill in the use and operation of motorized equipment.
  6. Ability to oversee and perform maintenance on equipment to determine serviceability of systems and sub-systems on components.
  7. Ability to articulate oral instructions and follow through with shop mechanics.
  8. Ability to understand and work from manuals and specifications.
  9. Basic welding skills.
  10. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Education and Experience:
  1. High School degree or GED.
  2. Must be local to Shreveport or the surrounding areas.
  3. Prefer a graduate from a two-year accredited diesel technical school and at least 1 year mechanic work experience or 5 years of diesel mechanic work experience.
  4. Certified in Brakes, PM, Electrical, HVAC, Fuel, Emissions Systems, provide copies of all certifications for employee file.
  5. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement or able to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  6. Prefer fuel hauling industry experience.
  7. Must have experience using a computerized maintenance manager system, TMT software is a plus.
  8. Must have experience in diagnosing trucks using the Paccar software, Cummins Insite, or Genisys Electronic Diagnostic Scan Tool.
  9. Must have experience performing preventative maintenance.
  10. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  11. Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history, and motor vehicle record review.
