IV Pharmacy Technician Job Description

The IV Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in the Infusion department, supporting the IV Manager in daily operations. This includes adhering to quality and customer service standards, policies, and procedures, as well as complying with state and federal guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Filling IV orders, including mixing medications, calculating doses, and applying sterile techniques.
  • Sending supplies and equipment to facilities.
  • Maintaining accurate IV mixing records.
  • Performing regular cleaning and maintenance checks on equipment.
  • Programming infusion pumps.
  • Entering data for IV orders.
  • Ordering supplies from vendors.
  • Performing other tasks as required.
  • Completing technician assignments as requested by pharmacy management.
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies in the rental log.
  • Contributing to the evaluation and improvement of client services, policies, and procedures.
  • Assisting with ensuring safety policies and procedures are practiced and adhered to.
  • Participating in special projects aimed at identifying and implementing operational improvements.
  • Collaborating with others in a positive and productive manner.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current National/State Pharmacy Certification required.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology, math, and analytical skills.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred, with sterile compounding experience being an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English.
