Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join our team at Optum. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling and Triage: Schedule and triage appointment requests for urgency according to approved protocols consistent with Optum's Appointment and Scheduling Guidelines.
  • Communication: Use call processing and other applicable functionality in the EHR to take messages and communicate with clinicians.
  • Patient Check-in: Greet patients and conduct check-in process.
  • Reminder Calls: Monitor daily reminder call logs to reschedule appointments as needed.
  • Document Scanning: Scan and index documents into the EHR; ensure that necessary documents, lab results, etc. are available in advance of patient visits.
  • Cash Handling: Close payment batch(es) at the end of each shift, assemble and balance batch(es) according to Optum cash control procedures.
  • Knowledge and Compliance: Maintain knowledge of current OSHA and Optum policies.
  • Teamwork: Assist coworkers as needed to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • Experience: 1 + years of data entry and/or receptionist experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual: Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Electronic Health Record Experience: Experience working with an electronic health record
  • Medical Terminology: Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Office Experience: Office Administrative / Receptionist / Clerical experience in a medical environment
  • Customer Service: Customer Service experience in retail, hospitality, etc
  • Coding Knowledge: Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding

Compensation and Benefits:

Connecticut Residents Only: The hourly range for Connecticut residents is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
