Role Overview
This is a Full-Time Day Shift position, Monday through Friday. The Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Coordinator will provide patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act, focusing on the nursing process and outcomes for patients undergoing bone marrow transplants and living donors.
Our program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), ensuring compliance with the highest standards of care. The coordinator will assist recipient coordinators in identifying suitable donors for stem cell transplants.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the health status and needs of patients and their families through the interpretation of health data and preventive practices in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Coordinate activities to secure donors for patients with blood cancers.
- Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care utilizing a systematic approach.
- Develop and implement educational plans for patients regarding health promotion and restoration.
- Offer emotional support and age-appropriate care to foster a partnership with patients and their families.
- Manage care for multiple patients, ensuring effective communication among healthcare team members.
- Analyze clinical data and current literature to inform nursing practice decisions.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing with a Bachelor's Degree.
- Current RN License in the State of Texas or a compact license.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital within the last 3 years is required; experience in managing bone marrow transplant patients is preferred.
- Background in oncology is advantageous; OCN certification is preferred.
- BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association is required.
