About the Role

This position involves providing advanced care to patients transitioning from intensive care in a step-down unit. The role requires comprehensive patient assessments, close monitoring of cardiac and neurological status, medication administration, and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure individualized patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
    • Conduct thorough assessments, monitor vital signs, neurological status, and cardiac rhythms for patients in the step-down unit.
    • Track and respond to telemetry and cardiac monitoring, identifying changes in rhythms and responding as needed.
    • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments, carefully observing for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
  • Procedures and Interventions:
    • Assist with specialized procedures (e.g., central line placements, arterial line monitoring, ventilator management).
    • Monitor for signs of clinical deterioration and take prompt action to prevent escalation.
  • Care Planning and Documentation:
    • Collaborate with the healthcare team to create personalized care plans based on patient assessments and diagnoses.
    • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic health records.
  • Patient and Family Education:
    • Educate patients and families on the condition, treatment plan, and self-care.
    • Provide emotional support to patients and families, maintaining a compassionate environment.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
    • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and work closely with ancillary departments (e.g., respiratory therapy, physical therapy) to optimize care and discharge planning.
  • Quality Improvement and Professional Development:
    • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and professional development to enhance patient care and nursing practice.
Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 1-year recent full-time equivalent experience within the last 3 years.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse License in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience in Cardiac Rhythm Recognition.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year.
