We are seeking an EMT Basic to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As an EMT Basic, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist nursing staff and physicians in providing patient care, including wound care and splinting as needed.
- Provide a safe and clean environment for patients, ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Identify and assess clinical situations beyond your scope and promptly notify a nurse and/or physician.
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems, and perform other support duties as assigned.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration, and statistical data compilation.
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- High School or GED Equivalent
- 1/2 year (6 months) directly related experience
- Emergency Medical Technician Basic License
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days
This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
This role may be subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements, and may involve working in close proximity to incarcerated individuals.
