Job Title: Animal Caregiver

Join the Hawaiian Humane Society team as an Animal Caregiver, providing compassionate and high-quality care to animals in our shelter. This is a physically demanding role that requires a high level of energy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Feed, water, and monitor the condition of all animals as directed.
  • Clean and disinfect kennels, cat houses, food and water bowls, and utensils.
  • Monitor food and cleaning supplies and reorder as needed with supervisor.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, answering questions and providing information about animal care.
  • Participate in meetings with other department members to share ideas and suggestions for improving working conditions and the organization.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of professional experience working with animals preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
  • Ability to read and write clearly.
Work Environment:

This role requires working outdoors in all types of weather and indoors under regular kennel conditions. You will be required to use equipment such as leashes, water hoses, brooms, rakes, brushes, and shelter vehicles.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Requires alertness and attention to detail in handling animals.
  • Requires crawling, bending, lifting, running, and other physically demanding activities.
  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds of weight with or without reasonable accommodation.
