The Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is tasked with overseeing instrumentation and controls, along with providing leadership to the electrical team on various projects. This role is essential for ensuring the safe and sustainable engineering practices, maintaining quality standards, and adhering to budget and timeline constraints across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of engineers and designers to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Organizing and managing project schedules within the Electrical-Instrumentation-Controls Department.
  • Defining project scope, objectives, and work-hour estimates in collaboration with management.
  • Conducting and reviewing complex engineering design activities based on provided specifications.
  • Guiding engineers and designers in the preparation of construction documentation.
  • Developing detailed designs for control systems, including loop diagrams, instrument layouts, and installation details, adhering to company standards.
  • Ensuring the technical accuracy and feasibility of all engineering designs.
  • Performing comprehensive reviews of instrumentation design packages as per established procedures.
  • Engaging in relevant project meetings and discussions.
  • Compiling progress reports for management review.
  • Managing changes in accordance with project protocols.
  • Supporting procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the professional growth of the department.
  • Staying updated with advancements in instrumentation and controls engineering.
  • Effectively communicating with project stakeholders, including clients.
  • Contributing to P&ID documentation, including instrument selection.

Technical and Industry Expertise:

  • Proven technical and practical engineering skills, particularly in the polymer sector.
  • Consistent delivery of high-quality, accurate, and timely work.
  • Strong understanding of instrument and controls engineering fundamentals and interdisciplinary requirements.
  • Familiarity with local and international standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Experience in specifying instrumentation for various measurements including level, pressure, and flow.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Ability to draft control narratives for programming purposes.
  • Experience with Safety Integrated Systems and SIL calculations.
  • Proficient in using engineering software such as InstruCalc, AutoCAD, and others.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Extensive experience in instrumentation and controls or electrical engineering within similar industries.
  • Proficient in conversational English.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Professional engineering registration.
