Job Title: Investment Banking Associate

Location: Nationwide

About the Role: Marathon Capital is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Associate Investment Banker to support the firm's clean energy investment banking and financial advisory efforts. As an Associate, you will work closely with senior bankers to lead junior banker workstreams, conduct financial analysis, and develop sector expertise in renewable and conventional power generation, low carbon molecules, power and utilities, climate technology, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support valuation and pro forma analysis of clients' businesses, projects, and acquisition targets
  • Lead and manage junior banker workstreams in support of firm mandates, including capital raise and M&A processes
  • Conduct industry research and develop sector expertise in clean energy and investment banking
  • Assess strengths and risks of client positioning and perform due diligence on clients and acquisition candidates
  • Pursue business development initiatives to enhance the firm's competitive position
  • Collaborate with senior-level bankers to deliver exceptional results for clients

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, sustainable energy, or a closely related field with 3+ years of experience, and/or graduated from a top-tier MBA program
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Experience in investment banking and financial analysis
  • Strong financial modeling and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of or interest in the renewable and conventional power generation, energy storage, low carbon molecules, power and utilities, climate technology, or energy infrastructure sectors
