Job Title: HVAC Commercial Technician

Southern Air, Inc. is seeking a skilled HVAC Commercial Technician to join our team in Newport News, VA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial heating and cooling equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Install commercial and industrial heating and cooling equipment, including rooftops, furnaces, central air conditioners, and commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain HVAC systems, including hydronic, steam, forced hot air, and heat pumps.
  • Read schematics and diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and maintain a high standard of mechanical installation practices.

Depending on their position, individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for two or more hours at a time. Individuals working at an outside job site may be exposed to varying temperatures and all weather conditions.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day. Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl often. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

May work with or around typical construction materials and chemicals requiring safety data sheet knowledge.
